As wildlife biologists that have worked and lived with wild cats, we have been totally captivated by the cross of the wild spotted Asian leopard cat (Felis bengalensis) with the domestic house cat (Felis catus). Many of us have a deep seated desire to share our lives with an exotic wild cat. However, since very few people are set up with either the facilities or temperament to live with wild cats (for the most part, wild cats belong in the wild), the Bengal cat, an affectionate and enchanting little leopard cat look- alike, is the perfect solution for folks who love, and want to live with, the ultimate spotted cat. And, having spent so much time with wild cats, we can attest to the fact that the Bengal cat has the "fun" personality of the wild cats without the "undomestic" part.
Here at the Cheetah's Den, all of our kittens are raised in the house (usually born in the bedroom) and are in constant contact with people, including our two young children and whatever other animals that are currently staying with us (as wildlife biologists we get quite a variety of creatures flying, crawling, running, or waddling through our home!). All of our kittens are guaranteed FeLv and FIV negative, have all of their current shots, and are checked by our veterinarians before they go to their new homes. Because shipping is their usual mode of transportation, we hold the kittens until they are about 12 weeks old. All kitten prices include the kitten, health check-up by our veterinarians, a carpeted cat carrier, and any beds or toys in the carrier. Since shipping is a new experience for the little ones, we send them along with carpet, etc. that they've been sleeping on, so it feels and smells familiar. We strongly encourage you to come and personally pick up your kitten if at all possible.
Since we are "way up North", we realize that's often not a possibility. So we use a combination of videos and photos to show our kittens as accurately as possible. Above all, we want our kittens to have loving homes with owners who want them and we've found that this is simple if you're happy with what you get. We use deposits ($100) to determine your place on the waiting list and it is refundable (except for a small charge to cover cost of videos and booklet) at any time, for any reason, until you actually select a specific kitten. We guarantee you will be pleased with your kitten and if, after receiving the kitten you decide not to keep it, for any reason, you have 5 days in which you can return it for a refund of the purchase price (minus the deposit). Of course, since we're so careful to let you know exactly what you're getting, we don't think a return is likely.
...making a cozy fire with a friend.
SO IS A BENGAL THE RIGHT BREED FOR YOU?
Well, we can't speak for everyone, but if you love cats and cat behavior, and are ready for an affectionate, intelligent, lively, and exotic companion, then run on the wild side! Certainly our world has been filled with enchantment since we let little leopard cat look-alikes into our lives!
