SBT Brown Spotted Tabby Bengal MALE
Well, what can I say, I'm not much for looking for cats to add to my cattery. I should be - I almost always need a lovely outcross male, but I just hate the whole "cat search" thing. It always seems to just come back to "someone looking after me"! Trollspotting Gattamelata is a great example. I had the extreme pleasure of being visited by Kirsten Bij't Vuur of Lopendvurr Bengals from the Netherlands and Karen Darnbrough of Mountainpark Bengals currently in the UK (Karen's my travelin' buddy - whenever I can find a cheap ticket, I run over to Europe and we have little adventures. This time, I got her to come here:-)! They were here for about a week, and we all had a simply marvelous time "cat chatting" and playing with the kitties. Now, one of the things I just love about Kirsten is her forthright honesty. If I ask her opinion, she gives it to me honestly. She doesn't prevaricate, or pretend things she doesn't believe, but gives me what I asked for - her true opinion. So after spending a few days looking at and talking about cats, I asked Kirsten, "Okay, I want your honest opinion about my cats." She looked at me thoughtfully and then replied, "You have some of the happiest cats I've ever seen. They are happy and well cared for and so very friendly. Even your foundation cats are friendly! That is wonderful and I am very impressed! You also know wild heads, and good structure and bodies and you have many rosettes. But........" "But" I prodded. "But what?"
"Well," she said, looking me straight in the eye, "lots of you folks in the US need to work on clearer coats!" I burst out laughing. Because, you see, she was so right!! It had been my thoughts too, to work towards clearer, more yellow coats. And I wasn't seeing many cats here in the US that had that quality. But Kirsten wasn't done, "I know just the cat! Annette has a boy with a clear yellow coat and she is going to neuter him. We must tell her not to." And, without my even knowing, Kirsten called home to her husband in the Netherlands, who in turn called Annette in Denmark, who in turn emailed me saying, "I have cancelled the neuter operation and I am sending Gatta to you because Kirsten says you need him." Just like that. No talk of payment, no talk of money - just, you need him, I'm sending him. Wow. So I am introducing, Trollspotting Gattamelata. Thanks to Kirsten for caring about what I needed and to Annette for providing it. International friends. As I said, I'm a lucky gal.
